The four storms of a weaponthane are members of the warband but not usually weaponthanes themselves (only true for chief etc.) IMO these are the young men who are trying to make a name for themselves as warriors. They are the weaponthanes followers (-8/-12).

The beginning player hero with the warrior keywords could start off as exceptional members of this group, not as weaponthanes themselves (of course this depends on your game setup), but with a weaponthane as their mentor.

In addition KoDP has 'The short call' - better equipped and trained members of the fyrd who respond to local emergencies like cattle raiders.
