Well maybe they should try the original sword quest again, this time better prepared.

Rules wise none, role play wise lots.

But a multi session adventure involving all players and a bit of risk creates more myth. If a short scenario to steal sheet is more fun and memmorable than buying a magic ring with HP then how much more fun can adventuring for that magic ring be.
IMHO unique things, be they magic, non magic or strange cult/feat combinations are best left to role play. If your party really need some item for an adventure make them keep questing until they find it. Many an epic fantasy novel has been based on a single task. It is said that 'Every journey starts with but a single step', I don't think that they should be able to catch a bus.
