Orlanth is the ultimate generalist who can do something of almost anything that a male Orlanthi might do. But he welcomes specialists who are better than him in their own way. Orlanth Warrior & Humakt, Orlanth Lawspeaker and Lankor Mhy, Orlanth Farmer (Thunderer?) and Barntar - the list will go on and on.

Its not mentioned anywhere in the rules that I remember, but I am certain it is relatively easy for a worshipper of an aspect of Orlanth to pick up an affinity or feat from another aspect of Orlanth. On the other hand the specialist is better off in their own area (farming, trading etc) but finds it difficult to personally gain access to the more common magics.

In a conversation I had with Greg at Convulsion, the majority (an Orlanthi majority, > 45% ?) of Orlanthi males worship Orlanth in his Fertility/Farmer aspect (though there was some confusion as to exactly which one). Only a minority will follow the ways of Barntar and be truly specialist farmers. Greg suggested that the Barntari would not be expected to join the fyrd when it is raised, whereas the Orlanth Farmer types are definitely part of the fyrd.

Charles
