"Your players probably think that a story starring baboons would have a relatively small scope and therefore feel that they'd be quite limited in the roles on offer"

And a quick look at the coming of the Hero Wars shows that most every culture and species has a Long Range Master Plan to return themselves to their remembered greatness.

Sure, we all know about the:
Elf Reforestation
Troll Flood
Machine Repair (actually just guessing there - what IS the dwarf master plan?)

But what grand night-howling fireside ritual shall return the Lost White King to the Monkey Empire?

How shall the Keets and Ducks be reconciled to allow the restoration of Ganderland?

Where is the Manifestation of the Void who works for the rebirth of Wakboth?

Are not the Wild Bachelors swimming into unexplored parts of the Spirit Marsh, searching for dangerous spirits to break newtling inferiority and innate subservience to draconic powers?

At their wallows, the Rascullu still tell the prophetic epic that goes exactly and entirely like this: "Smarty come soon."

Does Nose-Biter see potential in the enlo that only an outsider could direct?

Will some inhuman force stop these endless questions?

The point is that every culture and species needs heroes and most of them are holding open auditions for a show that opens next season.
