Re-imagining. Actually, I thought Burton's Planet of the Apes had a few really good ideas, and then dropped the ball, crashing and burning in spectacular fashion.

already been done. It's called "Barb Wire" - it stars Pamela Anderson Lee, has a shower scene, gun battles, but no wire fu that I remember. (There was also talk of a Kevin Costner/Demi Moore remake years ago, and a Ben Affleck/Jennifer Lopez one more recently. Neither has advanced, it seems.)
