"Way back" in RQ2, Humakti were some of the more stable, reliable
people to be around (assuming they were on your side!) The change to make them fearsome and scary is easy to write in words but hard to make logical, like lots of Glorantha :-( One way would be to have them be honorable only to other Humakti. If you are some moneygrubbing  Issaries, beware! And it's difficult to extract weregild from one.

"A Humakti entering a home can cause miscarriages and slay the
weakened by their presence."

This is another approach. However, if we accept this, you also have to anticipate villages killing random Humakti. Why would they want them around? Humakti PCs should expect healing to be tricky. An interesting dilemma for a Chalana Arroy - you and 4 other villagers are pregnant, the town sage is ill, and a wounded Humakti tries to enter your village for healing. What do you do?

I loved that short novel of the sick/dying Humakti (on the Gloranth.com site, sorry, forget the name) and now that explains why he hid out in the wilds instead of seeking healing in a village.
