I must be missing something, somewhere. Not expensive? You go to find a weird hero cult (all hero cults are weird to outsiders, right?) and persuade them to teach you one of their secrets, but without actually wanting to join them. Sure. Easy. They're really going to want to do that, aren't they? And you're not even their clan... Lots of cows, I suspect. And do something for the cult, some task to prove you're on "their" side really.
Or does your Glorantha have some sort of feat supermarket?
