My own scattered thoughts on the BatBlat at Whitewall...
- The Bat cannot be defeated.
(Everyone knows that. Runegate was fluke. There is no dragon beneath
Whitewall. However, the Runegate defence was also a scattered,
disordered, demoralised mess for the Heortlings. The omens were terrible).
- Most Lunars are as terrified of the Bat as the Orlanthi are.
- If the Bat has a weak point, it is its riders and controllers.
- The Orlanthi can summon storms, indeed Whitewall is associated with
Helemakt, the (last?) Fighting Storm. The Lunars expect this. The
Orlanthi control the ways of wind and air. What is not expected is that
the Orlanthi can also control a *LACK OF AIR*. This may be the crucial
strength.
- Orlanth is more than Air, Orlanth is Primal Air. And Orlanthi who have
questeded the deep paths understand that the Seven Storms and the Seven
Winds are very different beasts. (See the TR quote in my accompanying post).
Cheers
John
