Oh, the Self-rock thing reminded me that I had a question for Greg.

In the book (and elsewhere, I believe) I have heard the idea put forth that common magic is magic from otherworld entities who reside in the material world. (well, except for talents) This implies that no otherworld entities who reside in otherworlds give common magic. i.e. - there is no Ernalda common magic, Orlanth common magic, Yelm common magic, etc. A clan hero can't give common magic, only a feat to those in a subcult, for example. Things like the River and Kero Fin could, even though they also can be worshipped as gods. (I'm not sure if the magic Landscape entities give couts as common magic since it uses the guardian rules.)

Is that how that actually works? (I've been thinking about how I would change the presentation of Glortanthan magic in the rules, and this becomes an important point.)

Thanks,
