Wizardry is the rules terminology for magic originating from the Essence Plane. We use the word "wizardry" because it derives from "wise" (and is not necessarily negative in English) - after all, "wizardry is something you know". Wizardry is ultimately based on an intellectual understanding of things.

Sorcery is a type evil magic, fwiw the word "sorcery" comes from "sort" or to divine by chance (and is always negative in English) - a type of magic long considered bad. Hostile spirit magicians use "sorcery", as do worshippers of evil gods.
