River of Cradles - What are Mudsharks?

Greetings all,

I'd like to know if anyone in this group could please explain to me what Mudsharks are? They're featured in the campaign in the old Runquest supplement River of Cradles, but there is no proper description/ explanation of them. IIRC there is a passage where they are described as "barking". Anyone got any ideas?
