This would be a __very__ conservative right-wing view, and probably out-of-date by about 100 years or so to boot.

According to actual dogma, the Church is NOT divinely protected from error, the doctrine of _Papal_ infallibility has NOTHING to do with this, and no matter how divinely influenced the Bible authors and *particularly* translators have been, they were/are still human and therefore humanly fallible.

So much so, that the Vatican has recently _completely revised_ the official Latin Bible, in order to _correct_ some translation errors in the old Vulgate.
