The root of the word 'muslin' is based on the Greek name Maisolos which was the Hellenization of the Indian port city Masulipatam from which this trade good was garnered. It was traded even in the Bronze Age.

Where in Glorantha is cotton or something similar grown? Who wears cotton clothing or clothing from plant fibers? (let's not rabbit hole this question with a lot Aldryami talk from before the dawn) Maybe central Genertelans call muslin something like nochetlin because it comes through this port?

If fine cotton is only available from far ports in the hot places of Gloranthan, along with all the bright dyes etc, then screw wealth! Since the opening of the seas the Lunars are fighting their way to the coast just to be able to afford to keep their wives happy. I jest, those perfumed silk swans are after the shinys for themselves.

Or so says Bellyfart Toenails my Orlanthi friend from down the block.
