Speaking of maps, here is another Google Earth file...
I have made a half scale mapping of Genertela on Google Earth and centered
it in the Pacific again. This should reduce the measurement distortion,
although you did need to multiple any measurement you get by two.
What is this set of maps? It is every map I could find online, overlapping
and matched in scale. To see the source of the map, open the item for
editing and check the link to see the originating URL.
Incomplete listing: All Mongoose Publishing 2nd Age maps. Maps posted on
Glorantha.com. Maps posted on Wesley's Glorantha Site. A few maps taken from
online PDFs on the Chaos Society website (these are bundled in the file,
instead of linking directly. See notes attached to each file in Google
Earth).
Tips for use:
- Remember that this is half of the canonical scale to reduce distortion
from mapping a flat world onto a sphere.
- Turn items on and off by checking the box in the Left Panel.
- Some areas (Dragon Pass) have multiple maps that you show one at a time
by selecting from a sub-folder.
- You can control the transparency of an image by clicking on it in the
Left Panel and using the transparency slider at the bottom of the Panel.
- If the maps are not stacked in the order you prefer, you can change
this: Open a map for editing, click on the "Location" tab. Change the "Draw
Order". Higher draw order is drawn on top of lower draw ordered images.
- If you add maps from your own files that are not online, you should NOT
share the file, since you are breaching copyright.
- If you find a map in this collection that should not be online, contact
the hosting party. When they take the map offline it will no longer display
here (or anywhere).
- Feel free to use placemarks and other tools in Google Earth to add your
own usability to the map set.
If this interests you, please download Google Earth from
http://earth.google.com and then get the file I created from the
WorldofGlorantha yahoo group files.
