This post has two parts:

Part A
Todd said: "... , the Storm rune is balanced by having personality traits ..."

Interesting point here . What personality traits go with an Affinity to the Luck Rune?

Arrogant. Spoilt. Trusting(Gullible). Confident. The luckier you are, the more you are this way.

Could the Luck Affinity give you magical abilities to:

give yourself luck (in a specific way),
give someone else bad luck (again specific),
deal with bad luck when it happens to you,
help someone else deal with their bad luck ?

What other magical abilities in the Affinity?

What about Luck-based Feats? This could be a highly amusing string of lucky coincidences experienced by the deity (because they were so lucky!)

Part B

Clarification from my earlier email:
Btw, Herve, I was suggesting either:

  1. Lucky as a mundane Keyword (with the specific abilities inside). Or
  2. Use HQs advice and take Insolent Lucky Young Punk as the main (mundane) keyword [someone remind me of the HQ terminology for this?] and put the character in a religion that they approach through the affinity to the Luck Rune and then they can learn magical abilities (from that religion) to put in the Luck Affinity.

I was saying that Lucky (mundane) and taking the Luck Rune was a bit overkill - so the Insolent Lucky Young Punk as a replacement mundane keyword would be a good compliment (rather than more-of-the-same).

Cheers

Matthew

I wouldn't go overboard on balancing out the luck. After all, the Storm rune is balanced by having personality traits that can function as flaws or obstacles for the character. But those "handicaps" don't come into play in every story and do not generally "equal" the benefit gained from having a strong affinity with the Storm rune.

What you are going to have to figure out is when it is plausible to have luck be the resistance or active trait, and when it fails the credibility test. Most traits have a common sense limit to the situations in which it applies. Luck, on the other hand, could apply to nearly everything (as a Stretch at least).
