I had dismissed the other boat builders as "exception" on the line "they save only themselves", but I guess that could mean only their people, rather than themselves as individuals. Rereading it, I guess the myth never specifies the world, it just covers what matters (Dara Happa) and ignores whether there is anything else (ie the "known world").
