No-one may apologise for not having the system. It is now on Nil's Web Site. Consider that a plug.

Mark talks about a Difficuly Rating for an appropiate Ritaul to bless a particular year's crops. This is a good idea, equivalent to HeroQuest Spell - -- for every single Support Point mustered you bless an area of land to grow good crops next year, such as
1 SP = 5 km square. I don't think that the Community who casts the spell is risking anything in doing so -- except a waste of their time and energy, there is no more risk than an Orlanthi casting a Disrupt, if it fails the target doesn't heal or such.
I think this would apply more to Dara Happan Communities, who use a powerful communal magic to suceed in what they want to do. All in all, a new revelation for me.

Ooo, excellent! A communities Support Points (i.e. magical potential) regenerates every Sacred Time after the apporpiate rites are made. And this would also start to pull together in other ares, frex -- for every Support Point spent the community either gains the effect of a Morale spell for a Season (war clan) or increases the WDLF (or whatever it is from D:LoD-- I haven't got it on me at the moment) by 50 for every clan.  The description of an entire community by certain stats appropiate to it is, to my knowledge, the basis for Greg Maple's EPIC system -- which unfortunately I've never seen.

IMO the community could do something similiar whereby they know the rites to intercede in another communities HQ's and beat cripple them on the HeroPlane. Frex, the Yelmalions of Sun COunty piss off a powerful group of Zorak Zorani in the Big Rubble. When the Yelmalions use their magics to perform the Hill Of Gold Quest the trolls do likewise and the Questing Rune Lords both appear on the HeroPlane and meet each other. Because each Quester is representative of their community then if the Quester is beaten, the Community is likewise crippled. Of course, the Yelmalions win because they have far more support from their nation than the piddling Zorak Zorani Gang in Pavis.
Of course, there's nothing stopping a cult to use HeroQuest spells to attack another community upon the physical world i.e. the Valind cult summons up a Snowstorm to destroy it's foes crops -- but this takes place on the Physical Realm, not the HeroPlane/

No, this would suggest that an entire community appears on the HeroPlane to face their adversaries. Frex, when the Sacred Time ritual is enacted wherein Orlanth deafeats the Evil God of the Cold (this is off the to of my head BTW) one Quester is sent to meet it upon the HeroPlane while the rest of the Community help. That is what HeroQuesting is, in part, a single Hero with the Support of her/his community facing the problems that beset her/his community.
The use of HeroQuests to aid in Sacred Time rites etc... would be Orlanthi in nature IMO, aswell as the Praxians practising it. For example, think of the Belovaking HeroQuest which is repeated each year to ensure the clan has it's special powers. I think it's on David Dunham's Web Site (cheers to Dave for pointing me there!)

Just some thoughts,
