Carolyn - Hi! I support your plea for citation of references where possible, I myself am in the category of having been around for a while but still lacking some of the earlier stuff (and latest gregisms, but I'm remedying that...) so I appreciate citation wherever possible.

Jane and Ducks:-
The Duck Point Ducks favour Humakt because Ducks look silly and have natural roguish or cowardly tendencies. This leads to a _lot_ of anti-duck racism, especially accusations of being disreputable and dishonest. This is mostly true, so it is thought that the seemingly-paradoxical tendency of Ducks to worship Humakt is to prove their honour, bravery, etc. to the world - they have something to prove. It is no doubt handy that the Humakti Ducks are around against incursions from Delecti's marshes, though! I suspect most Duck communities, wherever they are, are subject to the Humakti tendency, but Duck Point most strongly since it is around the Orlanthi with their... interesting characteristics.
As to female Ducks, I suspect most of them _do_ worship Ernalda since she is linked to Fertility (not just land fertility) and is very much the "primal woman", and also she fits into the Duck tendency to emulate the Orlanthi culture. Of course, many will be on good terms/worship the local land and water spirits, too. That makes sense to me. I don't feel Ernalda is limited to _land_ fertility, though.
Who.what is the water fertility spirit/deity? _Is_ there a general one at all?
