Me too. Mainly of course because they're more familiar, but also because
they *did* invade civilised parts, and very effectively, too. Native
Americans had the disadvantage of having an ocean in the way.
Me: Native Americans have invaded each other quite a bit, and there have been
quite civilized civilizations among them. That's beside the point as the
parallels with Praxians are mostly with the "Plains Indians". These people
are well known to us all, if only from bad (and a few good) westerns. Very
few of us are familiar with asian nomads. I see the Pentians as rather like
"Mongols" and other asian nomads, but feel that the High Llama-Riders are
also somewhat like that. I see Sable-Riders as racially like "Indians". We
could say that the High Llama-Riders are racially "like" peoples who entered
America later, and are thus more asian, like the Sarcee and other Athabaskan
speakers. (wondering how many mistakes I've just made and who will be angry
with me about them) Anyway, I see many elements of asian nomads in Praxian
culture also, but basically most are more like "Plains Indians". This comes
across pretty clearly to me from Greg's material on Praxians, and from
Sandy's even more so.
