I don't think there's anything official, but every GM I know describes it as a hillfort with a fancy rune-carved gate.

Some of them are ancient hillforts which date at least back to the second age. Others are no doubt more recent. I don't think any of the old ones are currently vacant. Two-Ridge Fort is the Malani home.

Most of them would be small towns. I doubt the Lunars ever had permanent forces in anything that wasn't a city or fort.

It's Tarndisi's Grove in the English version. I believe a dryad lives there [KoS.245].
