I would place it more around the 50 or more size. Here is why:

20 =3D 3 working age males

        3 working age females
        12 kids
        2 elders

       Kids are future of the clan. Everybody has lots. I usually think =
3-4 per
       marriage.

       3 working age males is not very much to handle a stead. Admittedly,=
 the
      older kids could take care of the chickens and the pigs, the women =
would
      help with the cows (uralda) and the elders probably do not eat much. =
 But
      3 is still not very many for hunting, farming, general maintenance =
etc.

      These numbers get even worse if the clan has been involved in any = heavy fighting lately, like Starbrow's rebellion. In the campaign we just = started, my character has a house hold of 112. Of these, 54 are children, = 12 are elders, 20 are thralls, 6 widows, 10 other women, and _10_ are = working age males. Nope, I am not looking forward to winter.
