The burning maps thread won't end, it seems.

Ok, here's two tenths of a Lunar how the Grefs are done:

Basically, you take an ordinary mapping patrol out into the terrain, and have them map it with the limited range of aerial views the (Rinliddi equivalent of the) Yelmalio cult's vrok hawks can produce. On key locations, you summon a Lune which you release to return on a straight line to the Gref Cartographer HQ on the Moon, where it will report its arrival on a grid of coordinates spanned there in an imitation of Buserian's Frame. This GPS (Gloranthan Positioning System) allows to correct the most glaring errors, giving correct coordinates within an hour's march. This is coincidentally the maximum amount of accuracy the Crater Makers can achiece with their meteorite strikes from the moon.

Which makes me wonder how they get those rocks flying off the moon's surface. Do they have controlled geysirs on the moon which can be released upon command? Is there a (son or aspect of) Lodril in the moon to do the throwing (up)?
