Andre Jarosch:

<< At the convention in LA Greg told us what the Loper (animal not tribe) looks
like. It is a MOROPUS, an ancient Animal of the Tapir family.

Search for a good book of prehistoric animals, there will you find more infos about them. >>

One thing you'll find is that - no matter what Greg says - Moropus was a chalicothere, not a tapir (though the two sorts of animal are admittedly related). If the Claw-Footer is a Chalicotherium, then the two animals look pretty similar - bulky, furry (we assume) body with short hind legs, sloping hindquarters, a long, somewhat horselike face and big curved claws on its feet. Imagine a gorilla with claws and a horse's head and you're not far off the mark. It would have been a bit awkward to ride, what with the tendency to slip off the sloping back, but no worse than many other animals the Praxians ride. The only major difference between them is that Chalicotherium/clawfooter  is bigger, although they're probably a different colour and about as different as, say a wolf and fox.

Forward the glorious Red Army!
