First Heroquest is obviously trying to publish a Hero Wars game. First stage is wanting to issue shares, but this is prevented by the Law Rune, next asking for support from Initiates, then overcoming numerous Problems and Delays. Eventually the Hero will return to the world with a New Game and everyone will rejoice.
Best source is for ideas is the Issaries Since Time Began section from CoP:

Harst seeking the hand of the daughter of Yudam-aryam in marriage, who needs
proof that Harst can provide for them. Harst asks his friends for spare
grain, which he trades with his brother (identity unknown), then trades these
with his friends who had given him the grain.
2)
Garzeen, seeking the hand of the daughter of King Froalar of the West was
made to swear that he would reassemble the body of Genert before she would
marry him.
Also:
concilliator between Yelm and Orlanth to settle an argument
messenger carrying love notes between Sky and Earth that leads to the birth
of Umath
teaching Humakt a battle language in return for protection
spectator at various events: burial of Eiritha, Orlanth's kidnapping of
Huryara.
(this roles makes him, IMO, useful for Godlearners who can use these
'spectator Quests' to launch into a variety of other myth-paths and screw
them up in some Godlearner way)
