I think that I accidently sent this message to the Digest owner instead of the Digest itself. If I did send it to the Digest, my apologies for psting it twice.

Peter Metcalfe wrote

>>As for the distance, the Lopers are capable of
teleportating and so I presume the Loper people had some form of long distance teleportation to move armies around.<<

The Anilla write-up in Troll Gods states that the Loper People "were credited with incredible powers of evasion and concealment, appearing as if from nowhere to anbush their foes. (who were numerous, since they had no friends). Tish Pistos, a Second Age God Learner, thought that they must actaully have teleported about."

But could Pistos have been wrong? The Loper People's sudden appearance could be due to the hiding magic associated with Anilla, such as the Conceal and Invisibility spells. Is there any other reference to their teleporting other than Pistos' remark? Of course Keith N's earlier point about the Loper People's having to travel all the way from Melib to Slontos is at least circumstancial evidence that they could in fact teleport, but I'd like to know if the teleporting ability had been confirmed in some official source.
