	[Svagad] increased the empire's territory. He conquered Slontos, 
	bit by bit, and made it a duchy by the end of his reign. In these 	battles
his army destroyed the last of the Loper People. (Note 
	that though Svagad is credited with destroying the lopers, he did 
	not personally participate in the battle.) He established many new 
	ports along the coasts there.

At the beginning of the Empire, the constituent nations were duchies rather than archduchies and the Zistorites don't become significant until Emperor Darangram (859-870 ST).
