<< I just cant see a female not calling on a God just because their male. >>
Given that many Orlanthi women are initiated, or even devoted, to gods such as Lhankor Mhy, Issaries and Humakt, I don't see that as an accurate description of their beleifs.
<<I'm sure that Norse Women called apon Odin or Thor when they felt the need
just
as a male Greek might have called apon Athena. The idea of having male gods
for men and female goddesses for women ........is just a little odd in my
opinion.>>
Likewise, there are male followers of such goddesses as Chalana Arroy and Bevara (and probably others I haven't seen HW write-ups for). The only Heortling god I know of who refuses female initiates is Orlanth, on the grounds that he is specifically the god of masculinity.
<< If she wants a a warrior God then there's Humakt. >>
Or Hedkoranth or Storm Bull for that matter. And, of course, there are female devotees of these gods.
<< The whole Vinga thing strikes me as a cop out, I dont like it and I dont
use it! >>
RQ stated that female followers of Orlanth Adventurous existed; now that its been determined that Orlanth is a god of masculinity, something had to be done with all those female OA initiates: thus, Vinga was created. If you didn't have female OA initiates in your campaign, then this won't be necessary - although its really the only way to get a 'normal' female warrior rather than a death-obssessed nutter, chaos fighter, man-hater or whatever. As Jane rightly says, the question is what happens to all the female OT and OR initiates in people's campaigns. I hope to be able to give a definitive answer to that one shortly :-)
Forward the glorious Red Army!
