Ernalda "dies" when she falls asleep every winter, and is "reborn" when she wakes up every spring. Why'd you think she was in Hell when Orlanth arrived there on the LBQ?

Of course, the Ernaldans know that it was their Goddess in Hell who patched things up. The men have their own stories (Orlanth/Yelm), but it was women who saved the world.
