Probably not quite as murderous as the Aztecs for sheer numbers (20,000 sacrificial victims at one festival, for example). THere are definite similarities between the Aztecs and the Black Sun - Tezcatlopica is both a sun god and a dark god, the worship temples of the black sun are stepped ampitheatres like an inverted reverse aztec step pyramid.

I was thinking of making the Aztec 'Flower Wars' a Kingdom of Ignorance custom - when there are insufficient sacrifices captured through normal warfare or otherwise, they have ritual internal warfare between cities over token prizes (flowers), so that prisoners of war may be captured for sacrifice. THe KOI probably did so on a smaller scale than the Aztecs, and most captured prisoners would be trollkin.

Aztec mythology makes for great reading, because its so darn strange. If you put some of it in Glorantha as is, people would compain that it was unrealistically weird. My favourite is the demon goddess that is a butterfly with wings made of obsidian (the same material the sacrificial knives were made of).
