Esrolian matriarchal split

I hope this message isn't too late... I've been having trouble mailing
to this list for some reason...

Going back to the abortion question, BJM said:

     in Esrolia. >>

But what of a woman who doesn't want to be a mother? Would they be
seen as criminal deviants in Esrolia? Or would that just be a
personal choice available to an independent woman?

To go slightly off-topic, one quite interesting fictional depiction
of such a split came in the Cerebus comics, if anyone's familiar
with them. Briefly, one part of this lengthy series dealt with a
conflict between a matriarchal ruler (Cirin) and her
     feminist/libertarian Ayn-randish daughter (Astoria).

This also raises the question: if strongly patriarchal societies are
prone towards female infanticide (e.g., Romans), are matriarchal
societies prone to male infanticide? Or strongly opposed to
     infanticide at all?

     Theo
