In planning the Big Catchup, I see my name invoked:

Pretty much so, but to be fair, it is not Greg's fault, but mine for not moving on with the issue. What I can say that there still is dream magic, waking magicians and the like in the East Isles, but it's not an Isles-wide phenomenon. The dream philoposphy started off from the orthodox mystics Sed Parad and Ezel Balurenesh (the latter is a keet).

It has then transformed into something else, at the moment I'm not quite clear how it should be described in current Gloranthan terminology.

Thella is the goddess of dreams and has less of a dawn association (only the dreamers think so).

Or some other doom. My pet theory is that the imperial Mokatans' aim was to recreate Govmeranen's pan-Vithelan rule, but that would also bring Oorsu Sara back. Hobimarong, who never made a mistake, saw this and warned his people off in time.

I think Terra is speaking of the Doldrums (which is probably mentioned in TotRM). The Closing didn't close the "inner sea" of the East Isles, but sailing became very difficult because of a prolonged period of no wind, water turning thich and clinging to ships etc.

Going by David Hall's and Sandy's writeup, the Valkarians _really_ hate (and fear) the merpeople and thus might allow tapping of them, but I don't think they do as such a practice would be seen as seriously antigodly by various neighbours they probably don't want to antagonize prematurely.

Reincarnation could be a belief which has seeped into Valkarian thought from the surrounding societies: be reborn and if you were good, you'll end up in a better caste. That would fit with mystic practices like Hodaranism.
