Experts vs. fans

Hi everyone,

I really wonder if since we have experts there is a lack of creativity or people are less eager to publish their own stuff. I could be wrong (having taken a big holiday from Glorantha (some would even say from thinking) my opinioin may be out of date anyway) but did we not have had experts before HW ? Well, certainly I had "mine". If I wanted to know something about the Lunars, I asked Nick, I wanted something about Heortland, there was and is Joerg and if it was some other question usually Peter Metcalfe was glad to answer. (Sorry for all those unmentioned here). And I was more than happy to take those expert's words for truth, not without adapting that truth to MY Glorantha. And I do not see why people would stop publishing there unofficial fan stuff, just because there is some expert on that topic anyway. If there was an expert for the Telmori, I still would certainly keep all my pages even if most of them were out of date and contradicted heavily. This might quite well happen to the map of all the packs... but do I care ?
I have always seen it as a unique chance that the experts of the world we love so much are here amoung us free to debate with. I am not that much learned with other rpg worlds, but here I can tell Nick to insert *this* into the Lunar religion, and if it's very cool and all agree I might get it even. Now how cool is this ?

I personally see Glorantha as the most democratic of rpg worlds ever seen (and yes, I know more that this one *l*).

And certainly I am happy that we have experts who think more on things then others do. At least they make handy scapegoats. :-)

P.S.: Experts vs. fans ? I always thought experts were fans as well...

bye, Thomas
