re: Testing the Candidates

Nick wrote a big long bit on how an emperor is determined that makes me wonder what all the discussion was about. It seems entirely compatible with Martin's explication of Greg's new ideas, and everything Nick et al extrapolated from Greg's earlier ideas.

My summary: it's the same emperor, but until he passes the tests, nobody can tell.

And even if the "wrong" person passes the tests, when he becomes Moonson, he *becomes* Moonson, so it doesn't really matter. He's not the same person he was before. (Of course, Moonson might not act quite the same either, since one aspect his divinity might be easier for the new emperor to express.)

The debate seems awfully like a Credo game, with Greg and Martin in the "same essence" camp and Nick and MOB in the "different" body camp. Except, these are different numbered tenets... You're all of you right.
