 From the yellow elf pov this seems unproblematic, at least: they mate with manifestations of Aldrya, other types, less blessed, have had to 'grow out of whole dirt' (as it were) lesser creatures to fill the same role in a lesser fashion. That brown elves are explicitly broken (or should I say, frost-damaged?) yellows underlines the point, so I reckon they'd be likely to account for the greens in similarly abusive terms...

That's the best account I've heard... (I'm confused by what you mean about an additional name, though, both of these date back to way back when, don't they?)
