I believe it is canonical that she got it as a gift from Polaris whose 'favourite lover' she was. I ran it that she gained it while attempting a Vingan HeroQuest to rescue a Yelornan friend of hers. It's powers aren't too clear but seem to involve light in darkness and danger.
