Kinship in Prax

Something odd just occurred to me. Both the Waha family and the Foundchild family show some very strange patterns.

First, dad is basically AWOL. Storm Bull is off nursing his wounds and Foundchild's dad is unknown.

Second, mom is nearly as important in the family as the son. Eiritha is queen of the plains. Helpwoman fills her role for female worshippers of Foundchild.

Third, the son never gets himself a wife. Waha and Foundchild are both unmarried. In fact, they hang out with mom _way_ too much. Sounds Oedipal to me

I'm hoping some sociologist or anthropologist among us will say "Ah, well, that's just because they use an endothermihypothalmic kinship structure in which sons are supposed to take their father places."
