I've always considered Nralar Lake to be prehistoric. It may not be connected with Felster at all (other than that outsiders knew that there was a big lake in Ralios, and assume that the two are the same).
As for the name of the Stygian Empire, this is likely applied by outsiders because of its trollish nature.
