Followers can also serve as plot hooks -- your loyal spear carrier needs a loan (or gift!) of some cows to help his bloodline pay a fine. Your healer's family is caught up in an altercation with the notorious Uroxi Killer-Hrapp; he killed her brother and accepted the judgement, but her poor old father can't collect and she has no kinsmen that are as mighty as you.... Or you find out why your light-fingered skald was nervous about going to Furthest. No reasons why followers shouldn't make their personalities and histories known on occasion. Heck, occasionally one of them should sneeze while you're sneaking in somewhere unless you're willing to leave those AP behind....
