Advance preparation does not mean an ambush.

Over in Guy Jobbins' "Swords of Death" campaign, we got challenged to a duel by a Lunar: duel to happen the next day. So we spent the entire night in rituals to boost our champion: and so did they, with a few interruptions. (Playing bagpipes at them seemed to put them off).
