I had in mind more the situation where the ability is being used as a resistance to the PC's action, rather than for the vampire's own action. After all, the vivamortist might have some serious Mind Control, Drink Blood, and Mug Theatrically to get in when he acts. ;-)

Applying a handicap (i.e., a negative edge) to the vampire's successes has the effect of reducing the scale of the PCs' _own_ bids, which might otherwise defeat them fairly quickly if the invulnerablity ability is very large, which it probably needs to be to be dramatically effective. And it's a standard mechanic, after all... Still, this is just tinkering with the icing, the cake is I think pretty sound in any event.
