That's probably what I'll do. The rulesset mentions that heroes can spend HP on their sidekicks. I am glad to see the back of the uberfollower.  They could be annoying and could distract attention from the main characters.

If you want your follower to get 'big' turn him into an ally. You lose control of him but he will at least stay on a par with the heroes in power.
