Though before anyone panics, the individual gods and goddesses can still be worshipped as theistic entities, but worship of the collective is common magic.

Alex,

Common magic fills much the same role as battle magic did in RQ, magic most folks know for everyday tasks. It is from various otherworlds or the person themself in origin. Common religions are the mass religions, not everyone is initiated into deeper secrets of religions. Sure some folks, like Heortlings initiate most of their children, but other folks do not. A good example of common magic might be Griselda, who was always portrayed by Oliver as knowing magic, but not being an initiate - now she can be represented properly, by giving her common magic (Lanbril by the way is another common religion).

Commn magic also could be a good solution for things like city gods, - which people can worship in addition to initiating into deeper religions. So Pavis, frx, can be a 'common religion'. It also answers questions like what do the ancestors give the Heortlings, who hold worship of them after all, beside divination. The answer is they are the source of common magic in a common religion.

IMO it helps to represent Glorantha rather than providing something new to be presented.
