Sorry if this is a double post. I can't seem to determine if my original post went through or not.

I agree. Actually the use of these abilities would be for more personal and dramatic stuff like building relationships. Change the house in the example to the heart of a girl. Does that make it seem any more pertinent?

Also consider the one round extended contest in which it's all bid in that one round. That's valid, too, under this system.

Also, I like the notion that it applies to houses, too. Because that explains how the world is getting built in the background. If I want a sword from the smith, and I know his rating, I know about how good a sowrd he can make. I can even roll for it if I want.

Which is a good seque into my real agenda with all of this. Which is that I can now have a sword which is an Ability, not just a bonus. Remember the problems that I had with this way back? Well that now all evaporates with the new system. Now my sword will not be a +3, but a 7W sword with all that entails. No problem with it being indistinguishable from magic anymore - the 14 resistance thing took care of that.

So, I'm pretty pleased so far.

Mike
