Please Simon, I'm only creating a shorthand for the problem. If you really want me to describe the problem every time it comes up I will. It's just that it reminds me of how some supreme court justicies in the US look at the constitution, and as such seemed an apt label. But if you feel offended by the label somehow, I'll do what I can to describe you instead...

So, if Orlanth's Strength is used appropriately against another animate character then they should use 14? That seems to be contradictory to what some others are saying. That is, there doesn't seem to be a consensus here as to whether or not you'd use the mundane resistance against the character with the magic ability if it's an "appropriate" use of the magic.

In any case, what you're saying here is exactly my option 3 from before. I've never said it doesn't work.

Nothing wrong at all. But your posts seem to imply something other than mythic thinking. That is, I can't see how debating over the meaning of the term obstacle is going to get someone any closer to the meaning of the myth that the title of the ability refers to.
