I do use the Wealth Attribute and ignore coinage. I have come around to the belief that the wealth attribute actually makes more sense than keeping track of clacks, lunars, cows and homespun. I have been playing around with requiring an annual "stead economics" contest to figure out how prosperous the players' farm is (for instance, can they host tribal thanes without needing to sacrifice permanent wealth - or how easily can they get cottars to work their farm while they are away).
