The key word here, I think, is 'shipboard'. Unlike many other bands, a
shipboard band is, pretty much by definition, going to have to travel
together and stay together most of the time. There will be relatively
little wandering off and having adventures to help somebody else, unless
you're one of the ones in charge of the Band, and get to decide what it
does. With most Hero Bands, this isn't an issue, but a ship is, it seems
to me, rather more constrained by its nature.
