Absolutely. look to the Vikings and Saxons for examples of "introductory boasts" (And Mike Fink the Riverboat Man, and Pecos Bill.) As someone said (sorry, read it on another computer whikle away from home), the only problem comes when you *can't* back up your claims. Other cultures, of course, will think that the barbarian is full of it, but they have their own ways to impress when meeting new people.
