Subject: New to the Clan
Hello all,
My name is Angus and I have been involved in rpgs since 1975. The great eye-opening event in my rpg world came when I found RuneQuest (2nd ed) and discovered, lo and behold, that you didn't need character classes and levels to play!
In my time, I have run or played in nearly 2 dozen systems and have little to no "system loyalty" -- my credo is "Setting first, system afterwards". In other words, I decide on the type of game I want to run and then look to find the best system to emulate that feeling. Back in the day I wrote up a cult for RuneQuest that got published in Different Worlds magazine, did playtest work for Ars Magica (4th & 5th edition) and HarnMaster (2nd ed), and contributed to multiple game websites, all of them sadly gone to the great demise in the Web.
I picked up HeroWars when it first came out and was turned off due to the typos and poor layout work, but I recently discovered the revised version of HeroQuest and was quite pleasantly surprised. As I am 90% GM/10% player, I was happy to find this forum for discussion of rules.
I look forward to sharing ideas.
