Note aditionally that a roll of Critical vs Critical is "Narrator
Decides", so if in hte context of the current battle you think that
the mastery ought to make a difference then it still can, whether you
do so by "bumping down" the lossers critical to a success, treating
the whole thing as a "marginal victory" for the master, or allow the
master to "generate" the AP's bid (as if it were a transfer) without
penalising the non-master (who after all did still manage a
critical!), or some other result that suits your need at the time.
