While I have read about the threads of Headhunting and Baron's Friend, I recalled practical reason of headhunting. (Maybe you know in Japan, Warring States Period, (14-15C) Daimyos and Samurais urged headhunting of their enemies as a trophy. (I can't remember enough other asian states)
I think it is easiest way to confirm the death of targets (no one can live without one's own head) and certification of the feat of winners. (But it is unusual even for such bloodthirsty period that the "Demon Lord" of Azuchi (called by Catholic Missionary) made his enemy's skulls into sake cups and forced his generals to use them...as the proof of their loyalty.)
IIRC, there is a Web Page about "Stop Ressurection" linked from Loren Miller's Site (Now lost?) In HW, ressurection demands at least "short" heroquest for White Ladies (see Gwandorling Saga of Wesley's Site) aside from Rune Quest status.
I think Chalana Arroy (or Errissa?) demands at least perfect status of corpse for the ritual. (But some Lunar heroes (like RE and JarEel) revived without heart or their body. Please see KOS and Fortunate Succession)
